New Team Aims To Bring National Advertisers To UK Digital Signage
24 Oct 2008
A team of outdoor industry 'names' have collected together to form a national media sales house for the UK digital signage and out-of-home markets.
The new company, Digicom is the work of former International CEO of CBS Outdoor, Tom Goddard - whose plan is to bring the rigours of large scale professional media sales to the many small independent digital signage networks now appearing.
According to The Screen Forum's digital signage network directory, there are now more than 100 networks operating an estimated 130,000 screens in the UK alone. Digicom believes that these new networks will need to polish up their act if they are to persuade national advertisers to book campaigns with them. The company's team of ex-CBS and Titan execs hopes that they can impress their experience on the market to get things moving.
AKA COMMENT
The UK digital outdoor market is said to be worth £40M. However when you consider that possibly 85% of this figure is accounted for by Titan's Transvision and CBS's London Underground installations, it shows that this team is drawn from the right players.
With the varying quality of the many different networks out there, it will take someone that the media industry really trusts to get the big brands advertising on some of the smaller propositions. It will be interesting to see what success this new team has.
